I determine the price of a commissioned work based on three important elements of the piece: size, media, and subject matter. The table below describes base prices for each media per square inch:

These baseline prices reflect the cost of materials and my best estimate of how long a piece in that media will take me. In addition, I will take a close look at the reference photo you give me when I give you a quote. Elements like close-up faces or complicated textures (think lace) will cause the price of the piece to increase, because I will need to spend extra time to make a face recognizable or to do hyper-detailing on any part of the piece.
